Quick Update

Incase any of you missed it, I finally found my blog name and got myself a URL sorted out. You can now find me at:

Jaedia’s Menageriehttp://menagerie.jaedia.net

And:

The Rant Pagehttp://rantpage.jaedia.net

So update any links or bookmarks, but don’t worry about RSS feeds, I was able to redirect the old ones to the new URLs so they still work perfectly.

I’m also planning to take part in NaNoWriMo this year. If you’d like to friend me, I’ve linked to my profile page in a little button on both of my blogs’ sidebars, don’t be a stranger :)

Away A While

A family emergency has cropped up, as such, I need to go away for a bit, a couple of weeks probably it’s not exactly decided yet, but as such the fixing of my blog has been pushed back a bit.. again. I might be able to pop on Twitter a little but I don’t know yet, and if I do, it won’t be much. In the meantime I’d really like to request a little support. Firstly, I’ve put up a poll in the sidebar, if you could please select whichever blog name you prefer, or give your own suggestions (can leave a comment if you wish), I’ll love you to bits. Secondly, for the people who might have missed my tweets, could any of you willing to do so please spread the word that I haven’t abandoned ship, I’ve just struck a couple of problems I need to deal with, I will be back, please don’t give up hope on me :) Biiig love to anybody who could do that for me <3

Thank you for your support, you’ve all been great and I do love you all (except you :p).

Back in a week or two possibly xx

Time For A Change?

Thinking of a rename for The Lazy Sniper. I’d actually considered it a few months ago when I rerolled back to my Shadow Priest, but at the time decided to stick with what I was known as. However, I’d imagine that I tend to be known as ‘Jaedia’. It hasn’t been my character name for a while so no worries about that changing, and my post types wouldn’t change either, so perhaps this is a good time to consider a name change to something more neutral. Something that won’t lead people to confuse me for a Hunter, or have me encounter the same problems if I ever, for some reason, wasn’t a Shadow Priest any more but still wanted the blog name. While my domain is up in arms and ready for renewal, or, at the very least, expired, and nothing would be wasted.

So for those of you who find this post, I’d very much like a little input (and tweeting, if you’d feel so obliged <3). Should I stick with ‘The Lazy Sniper’, as that’s what my blog is known as (when I finally get the damn thing unlocked)? Should I consider renaming while my domain is up in the air? (though I’d of course carry on pestering JustHost until they do what I originally asked them to do, just to be annoying at this point) And if I rename, any suggestions (no matter how terrible you might think) that I could play with? Please leave me comments with your thoughts, I’d very much appreciate any feedback from my lovely readers :)

So far we’ve got:

  • Crazy Cat Lady
  • Absolution (points upwards)
  • Names Are Hard

So as you can see.. halp!

PS. I miss tidily aligned text.
PPS. I also miss footnotes.

Pain in the…

A year ago I decided to move my blog to a hosted WordPress. I found a host that seemed pretty cheap (JUST £2.95 A MONTH), which came with a domain, and decided to sort it out, well, after the thing had gone through, I realised that somewhere in the small print I’d missed the upfront payment of £100. That’s a week’s worth of food, etc. money for us! So, I got it cancelled, and my friend stepped in offering me free hosting, but the domain was already registered, so I got the dns details, and they kept £10.

The main reason for this temporary blog is because my domain expired. Well, I got in touch with the people it’s registered with when I knew I could afford to sort it out, and I’ve had nothing but fucking trouble. First they tell me that they can’t do anything because I’d emailed them from my gmail rather than my registered email, then they tell me that they don’t do domain hosting, by this point I started getting a tad miffed, because my domain is locked and I bloody well want it back. Then they have the nerve to tell me that they only do domain and hosting packages, but “as a good will gesture we can renew your domain for £59.40.” Fuck off. I may be crap at technical stuff, but I know they’re trying to fucking rip me off and I’m not falling for it. My friend has been kind enough to help me get this sorted, but man it’s a butt-pain at the moment.

Moral of the story: Avoid pipedns and justhost. They’re twatwaffles.

First Day At The Charity Shop

As it says on the tin, I did my first day today at the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research charity shop today. I wanted to pop into the town a little early so I could run to the bank and deposit a bit of money I’ve accumulated from my cleaning, the same day the guy in front of me decided that the white sign with a black line through it meant got 20 mph slower than you’re actually supposed to. Seriously.. 40mph on a 60mph road? I understand 50, almost, but 40 on a clear road? I’m no speeder but it’s nice to get upto the limit.

I parked up, popped to the bank, then tried to work out the car park payment thingy. I’ve only ever parked in free car parks, or car parks that let you pay at the end of your stay, as the first hour is free I put in 3 hours and the ticket was set to end at 3.50pm. Ehh.. so I decided I’d head off at 4pm for today and get the 4 hour ticket next time.

I was down on the shop floor this time, at first was shown how to use the till and left to it for a bit. Meep. It was fine though, I learnt a few of the ropes today, working out slowly how to go about pricing things up and all that. It’s actually fairly cheap compared to other charity shops. The ones in town price books for around £3-£4, depending on the book, these guys are pricing them for 50p-£1. I spotted A Child Called It and its’ sequel for 25p each and decided to grab those before they went. The staff get a half price discount on things but something doesn’t feel right about getting a half price discount on 50p in a charity shop, if it was a bit more, maybe, but that little I just paid the 50p.

The people there seem pretty nice, hopefully I’ll settle in okay, I’m a fairly quiet person and I worry about “fitting in” because I struggle to join in with conversations a lot of the time but I do try, should be fine. My biggest problem, really, was my shoes. I bought some black shoes from Clarks a couple of years ago and I always struggle to decide whether a pair of shoes fits properly or not when I’m in the shop, figured they’d wear in after a few days but they never did, by that time Clarks wouldn’t switch them for a bigger size. I do have some other black shoes, which to my memory aren’t much better, but I’ll try them. If not I guess I can ask to wear my trainers, because standing on my feet for several hours in shoes that are too small for me is gonna cause me some problems. I have quite wide feet, had this problem for a few years.

Oh, and they gave me a nice bit of cake ;)

Hey Guys!

My site’s having a few hiccups at the moment so I’m temporarily sitting my arse down here. Yeah, I have an emergency blog, what of it? A lot of the stuff you see is placeholder, I never got around to fixing things up because I never got around to using the space properly, nor do I intend to stay here for long. While my blog is moving servers, there are a few issues it seems to be bumping into, and my domain should also be up for renewal too so I’ll have to wait a little over a week before I can sort that out, can’t afford it this week. I did get the skeleton of my Brewfest guide written up, I just never got around to finishing it, I’ll probably get it posted when Lazy Sniper is back up, even if it’s not much use by then. It’ll be ready for next year at least.

In the meantime, I finally got my Mage to 60. She was the first Blood Elf I made on TBC’s release date, yup, it’s taken me 2 expansions just to get her to 60. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the class, I just – oh look a squirrel. My Death Knight got Brewmaster and the Kodo, my Priest got the remote, I’ve had some terrible experiences with the late 50s instances, and I started reading Poison Study and it’s great (my Goodreads profile, if you don’t have me friended yet). Tomorrow, I start work at the charity shop, I obviously won’t be paid but it’s going to be nice to get out of the house again. I’m only doing Friday and Saturday afternoons and Monday mornings so nothing too bad, gets me back on my feet, a good reference on my CV, and the people there seem really nice so can’t say I’m not looking forward to it.

I’m sorry for the downtime, there’s not a lot I can do about it for now, but I will be back, and I might do a tiny bit of blogging here while things are up in the air, we’ll see if I have anything to say. If I do, I can’t guarantee it will be entirely WoW-based, my personal blog is also down, being connected to the Lazy Sniper domain, but I suppose for a couple of weeks you won’t mind too much :)
